TCA Conference Oversight Committee Report

November 19, 2008

This committee was established at the 2007 TCA Strategic Planning Meeting, and is to consist of not more than five most immediate past-presidents, with the chair being from the region of the conference.  Each year, a member will rotate off the committee and the most recent past-president is added.  The purpose of this experienced based committee is to advise and provide guidance to the conference chairs.

During the 2008 TCA Conference, the Conference Oversight committee will be meeting and compiling a condensed version of the conference handbook.  The conference guideline handbook will be more out-line form with a suggested time-line, sponsor list, list of committees needed, resource people, etc. This handbook will be copied onto a CD to be passed to the in-coming president-elect.   The conference chair will be responsible for reporting to and keeping in close contact with the committee, in such areas as needed and providing financial reports as conference planning moves forward.

Mary Brignole is to be commended for reporting regularly to the committee.  The committee, therefore, has been able to assist in specific areas, such as locating a cost-effective printer and arranging for printing of conference programs, award plaques, etc., and in general, being available for, President-elect Brignole to confer with and “bounce” ideas for various aspects of the upcoming conference.

Sadly, the committee was unable to be of service to the 2007 Conference Chair, Jan Turner. This Chair did not consult with this committee. Additionally, our offer to help her was refused. As a result, there has been no accounting of her conference income, expenses, or explanations for such.

Respectfully Submitted,

Barbara S. Guinn

Chair TCA Conference Oversight Committee
