Multicultural

Development)
members have
accomplished
many things
recently.

Chair, Dr.
Hattie Isen was
inducted into
the Memphis
Chapter of the
National
Coalition of
100 Black Women,
Inc. She was one
of the five
individuals
honored at the
first annual
Legend of
Memphis
luncheon on May
26, 2007.
President Karen
Weatherly
attended the
Strategic
Planning Process
meeting in
August. Our

accepted the
nomination for
the position of
President
Elect-elect for
the Tennessee
Counseling
Association and
will serve as

for the 2009-10
years. Her
enthusiasm and
boundless energy
is appreciated
by all. Peggy
Misenhelter has
accepted the
position of
Secretary/Membership
chair to replace
Dr. Hattie Isen.
Dr. Isen remains
committed to the
division but
must attend to
family
concerns.
Officers are:
President is
Karen Weatherly,
President-Elect
is Jenny Harris
and President
Elect-Elect is
Dr. Jeffrey
Taylor,
Secretary/Membership
is Peggy
Misenhelter,
and Treasurer is
Sonja Sanes.
Dr. Jeffrey
Taylor, Margaret
Schingle and
Peggy
Misenhelter all
attended the
Emerging Leaders
Conference in
Cookeville, TN
this past July.
Treasurer Sonja
Sanes states
that
multiculturalism
is no longer a
topic to be
discussed, it is
here now and not
limited to just
race. We must
all learn how to
accept, interact
with, and
understand
people who are
ethnically,
racially and
culturally
different from
ourselves. As
our membership
increases, we
can provide more
information and
support to all
educators and
counselors.
TAMCD goal is
to increase our
membership for
the 2007/08
years.
We will host a
reception on
Sunday, November
18, at the TCA
2007 in
Franklin, TN.
Everyone is
invited to join
us for
information,
prizes,
refreshments and
fellowship. We
encourage
everyone to
wear
multicultural
clothing of your
choice.
We thank
everyone for
their
committment to
TAMCD and
appreciate
everyone's
efforts to make
this the best
conference ever.
We look forward
to seeing
everyone in
Franklin.
Respectively,
Karen Weatherly
TAMCD President
