TCA Grant Procedures

Call for Grant Proposals

          TCA would like to provide support for any TCA Chapter or Division that is interested in providing educational and/or professional development opportunities for its membership and other interested groups or individuals.  Such activities should focus on improving the counseling profession and should be available to anyone currently employed in the counseling field in Tennessee or considering such employment.

 

Eligibility

          TCA will grant seed money or provide matching funds for any active TCA Chapter or Division wishing to provide activities, workshops, and/or studies with the intent of improving the profession of counseling in the state of Tennessee.  Grant money available may range up to a maximum of $2,000 per year, per proposal.

 

Selection Criteria

          Proposals will be evaluated on a competitive basis with the TCA Finance Committee reserving the right to make final recommendations to the TCA Governing Council as to total amount to be granted to each organization that applies.  All appropriate projects will be considered.  While the Finance Committee will make every effort to fund the full amount requested it may be possible that only a partial funding may be given.

 

Closing Dates and Notification

          Applications may be made at any time, but final approval can be given only after the TCA governing council has met (currently Summer LDC, November Conference, and Spring Governing Council Meeting) and the proposal has been presented to said Council by the Finance Committee with its recommendations.  The Governing Council will set the amount of grant money available each year at the Summer LDC.  When all money has been granted for the year, no more grant applications will be considered until a new budget has been set for the next year.   If a grant application is made that falls into this category, at the request of the group seeking the grant, such application will receive a priority status for the next year’s budget considerations.  Therefore, applications will be considered on a first come, first serve basis at the beginning of each fiscal year (July 1).

5.     Post – Project Follow-up.  Grant recipients will prepare a short written follow-up to be presented to the Governing Council at the next regularly scheduled Governing Council meeting following the event for which grant money was given.  The follow-up should include the number of TCA members and other counselors who were involved or impacted by the project.  Any other pertinent information about the effectiveness of the project should also be included.
