ACA REPORT

NITA JONES

Governing Council met October 26, 27, and 28 in Washington, DC.

The executive board meet Sunday afternoon after the meeting. I represent the four Regions on the executive board.

All motions that were adopted or defeated are on the ACASR website. The most discussion centered on the membership alternative plans.

The chair of the Collaborative Task Force ( appointed by President Brian Canfield) presented the report. The recommendation brought forward was the Governing Council in collaboration with the ACA staff resolve to craft an alternative dues structure that would provide ACA members with a menu of membership options. This was defeated. Later, two motions were made and passed. A decision will be make in March at the Governing Council meeting. A draft handout is attached to better explain the options.

I have a free registration for someone from Southern Region who is not a member but will join and attend the Conference. Dr. Freiden and his board will make the final decision on the free registration.

The next meeting for GC will be March 25, 2008.
