Editor’s Report

The first edition of the new Tennessee Counseling Association Journal has been published!  The journals will be available to all members who attend the conference.  For those members unable to attend, journals will be mailed directly to them.  We would like to thank the TCA Leadership for their support with this endeavor.  We hope that the membership will be as proud of the journal as we are. 

Goals for TCA Journal:

Ø      Editorial Board:  We would like to revisit the editorial board process by adding representatives from all the divisions of TCA.  We would like to ask the president of each division to appoint a person to serve on the editorial board.  The president will be provided guidelines to help determine an appropriate member to serve.  Ideally, editorial boards members chosen would have some experience with scholarly work. 

Ø      Disseminating information:  We plan to review our options for disseminating the journal.  We need to make sure that any information published in the journal is available as part of the counseling profession literature.  This will mean exploring the possibility of the journal being part of the ERIC system.

Ø      New editor:  Dr. Studer does not plan to continue as an editor.  Dr. Lee will continue to serve if the TCA leadership approves but would like to have a co-editor.  Dr. Joel Diambra, faculty member in the counseling program at UTK, has expressed interesting in serving as the co-editor of the journal. 

Ø      Submission process:  In order to successfully publish the 2008 journal by the conference, the submission process should begin immediately.  Articles will be solicited from the TCA Website and Listserv, as well as other counseling profession listservs. 

Budget:  Although the final budget is not available yet, the estimated expense for the journal is $4000.  The final budget will be available after all journals have been mailed to the members not attending the conference.
