Tennessee Counseling Association
President’s Report
Franklin, TN, November 17, 2007
In August of this year, the Executive Council met with the division presidents and three past presidents to develop a five-year strategic plan for the association. The strategic plan will be presented for adoption at the Governing Council meeting in Franklin, TN. The plan was built around the four sustaining goals of TCA, which are building a strong leadership team, promoting the organizational structure, management, and resources of TCA, maintaining and enhancing membership and advocating and increasing public awareness and support for the counselors of the state of Tennessee.
In October of this year, I represented TCA at the ACA Southern Region Leadership Development Conference and business meeting. Branch leaders from 13 southern states met in Williamsburg, VA to learn and development plans to ensure that Southern Region remains one of the strongest regions of ACA. Other TCA delegates to the conference were Past President, Barbara Guinn; Executive Director, Becky Murray; ACA Liaison, Nita Jones; and ACA-SR Chair-Elect, Jeffrey Freiden. Next year, Southern Region will be held in Little Rock, AK, with our own Jeffrey Freiden as chair.
Prior to the Governing Council meeting, the ED review committee will meet with Becky Murray to review her first 4 months as Executive Director. The results of this meeting will be presented at the Governing Council meeting, as well.
Respectfully submitted,
Anna Shelsky
TCA President 2007-2008
