The Southern Tennessee Chapter of the TCA met on Monday, October 4th, 2010 at 6:00pm at Motlow State Community College in Room 106 Pam Harris from Centerstone Career Institute was the scheduled speaker to inform the chapter on a three year grant to sponsor eligible participants to attend training in medical careers. She was not able to come due to illness, but Ron Boyd and Ivan Jones presented the highlights of the grant and encouraged the counselors to inform seniors of the opportunities after they graduate in May 2011. Dr. Stephanie Richardson also presented an overview of the TTU 2+2 program available on the MSCC campus in Tullahoma. Stephanie is one of the two full time TTU faculty assigned to the program. Several teachers in Bedford County were graduates of the program.
Janie provided information about the Teacher’s Link from the Warren County School system and gave copies to those interested.
The Southern Tennessee Chapter of the TCA had their 2nd meeting on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 6:00pm at Motlow State Community College in Room 106 of Simon Hall. Our speakers were Melody Miller and Heather Barr from Help Connect America. They are a statewide company that provides behavioral health treatment and related services within six regional areas of Tennessee. The office is located in Cookeville, TN and they can be reached at 931-526-6042 if you have any questions or need their services.
Our third meeting was held at the Tennessee Technology Center in Shelbyville. Members presented some Best Practices they have found to the group. Some of the things shared were Doing Solution-Focused Brief Counseling, Color coded graduation check lists, Pacerkidsagainstbullying.org, United Streaming Deskersize, PBS training at MTSU on May 12, 2011, STARS Nashville, Career Coach, and Vital Smarts on motivational influences. Many wonderful ideas were shared.
The Southern Tennessee Chapter of the TCA met on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 6:00pm at the McMinnville Tennessee Technology Center. The meal was provided by the Tennessee Technology Center in McMinnville.
The guest speaker was Dr. Jane Allison from the Warren County School System Central Office.
