Fall 2007 Report

We are off to a great start.  We have four meetings planned for the year:  September 10^th, October 22^nd, February 25^th, and April 21^st.  We are implementing a new incentive to encourage greater attendance at our meetings also.  The member that brings the most guests will win a $25 gift card and we have door prizes at each meeting.

 Our August 2007 meeting was hosted by The Tennessee Technology Center of Shelbyville and Ivan Jones and Ron Boyd.  Our guest speaker was Raymond Pryor.  Mr. Pryor works at The Webb School in Bell Buckle as the Director of Technology. He did a presentation on internet and cyber safety/ bullying.  His presentation updated us on the dangers that can lurk not just on computers but also cell phones or calculators.  Educators and Counselors have stay abreast of the terminology that is often used in text messaging and other types of cyber-bullying. 

The October 2007 meeting was hosted by Lana Craig and EdAmerica at Crockett’s in Tullahoma.  Our guest presenters were from Centerstone.  They shared a wealth of information concerning programs that are available within the schools and outside of the schools for students and their families.  This included information on the Prevention Programs that they offer and examples of pamphlets that they have on Meth.
